Purpose Statement:

The Bus Operator is responsible for transporting students between a designated location and the CCA campuses and/or to special destinations safely and promptly. As a bus operator, you are also responsible for transporting passengers safely, maintaining daily safety inspections, student attendance, and care of the vehicle.

Scope:

This position is key to the protection of our students and staff. This person should adhere to safety practices to read, interpret, and follow printed and electronic maps, route descriptions, and directions.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate a school bus over designated routes with specified time schedules and the regulations and laws related to pupil transportation Transport students to and from school (to established school bus stops) for curricular and extracurricular activities To transport students between a designated location and the schools and/or to special destinations safely and promptly Provide updates to the dispatcher and report emergencies, traffic patterns, accidents, or incidents that can cause delays and/or affect the safety of students and the operation of the school bus Maintain the school bus in a safe operating condition through prescribed daily vehicle inspections Maintain the school bus clean, including interior windows, seats, dash area, and floors. Report mechanical defects and malfunctions to the appropriate personnel Attend training and development sessions as required. Master the principles of first aid and administer as needed. Ensure and maintain student order and discipline on school buses by reinforcing control and orderly behavior Maintain acceptable behavior of student passengers as follows: assign seating arrangements and monitor seating assignments; inform students of behavior and safety rules and enforce rules, as necessary; reprimand unruly students verbally or with written referrals; report unauthorized passengers; discharge students only at authorized locations. Report disruptive children to the appropriate school personnel according to established procedures and guidelines. Also, communicate behavior issues as required by school policy Maintain current knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures and techniques. Communicate with the school designee via cell phone during the route Accurately complete daily paperwork(i.e., A.M. and P.M. attendance, pre/post-trip inspections) Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee No use of electronic devices during the time transporting students Attend PMD, Faculty&Staff Meetings, CCFL Huddles, and other meetings as deemed necessary by the Leadership Team or overseer

Strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ Willing to live a life above reproach that is aligned with our Leadership Covenant Operates the bus in a manner that glorifies the Lord and represents Calvary and CCA in a God-honoring manner Loves the Lord and people Strong commitment to the Philosophy and Statement of Faith of Calvary Chapel and the Mission Statement of Calvary Christian Academy Fluent in the English language Excellent communication skills Must be at least 25 years of age Five (5) years of licensed successful driving experience Must have a clean driving record, no more than 5 points in a 3-year period allowed Must be a certified school bus driver Maintains and keeps Driver’s License Current Demonstrate physical and mental capabilities required to carry out all assigned responsibilities as a school Bus Operator Ability to operate a school bus safely Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent time management skills High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of six months previous school bus driving experience or vocational training preferred Maintain a valid CDL Class A or B with passenger and school bus endorsements Must pass and maintain the following: DOT clean drug screening, clean driving record, yearly physical exam, clear background check Must be able to lift 40 pounds
