School Bus Driver Needed Imagine Schools Sarasota, FL 34238
Position Title:

Principal Position Description:
Transport students to and from school, following established routes. Drivers might also transport students to special events, like field trips and after-school sporting events. Drive a school bus safely in accordance with time schedules transporting students to and from their homes, and on field trips as assigned. Oversee the boarding and departing of students, releasing students to authorized individual. Assure that safety belts are fastened. Assure bus is maintained in safe operating condition; report needed mechanical repairs. Assures bus is maintained in a clean condition. Follow district policies, rules and regulations, and observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. Supervise children during emergency drills. Display professional behavior when working with students, families, co-workers and others in the community. Have knowledge of common safety hazards and necessary safety precautions for self and others, sufficient to be able to establish a safe bus operation. Assist with medical and behavior problems. Prepare student discipline reports and issue bus citations when appropriate. Demonstrate an understanding of the Imagine Schools Non-Profit Six Measures of Excellence in the execution of duties. Model positive character virtues and habits. Assist students in developing positive moral and performance character attributes. Perform other duties as assigned by Principal/School Leader.
Education:
High School Diploma/GED.
Licenses & Certifications:
Commercial Driver’s License and driving experience.
Experience:
1-2 years related work experience.
Knowledge, Ability & Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating manuals. Ability to perform the job independently and exercise good judgment when appropriate. Tolerance for all personality types and a passion for working with children. Ability to perform in a sometimes physically demanding and stressful environment.
Physical Requirements:
This is a largely active role and requires the ability to work with children; standing, lifting and walking are required, which would require the ability to lift children as necessary, remove garbage, bend, and stoop as necessary. The physical demands and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
- Visual acuity with or without vision aids, ability to distinguish colors.
- Be free of impairment of the use of a foot, leg, hand, finger, or an arm, or other structural defects of limitations likely to interfere with the ability to safely control a school bus.
- Depressing fuel and brake pedal with right foot and leg requiring 70 psi.
- Steps to enter and exit buses, step down 3.5 feet to exit emergency door. Additional Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- While driving school buses, drivers will be exposed to seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather, while loading and unloading children, controlling traffic and inspecting equipment.
- Drivers will be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, petroleum products and ambient noise daily.
- Drivers must be able to o Deal with stress from driving in difficult traffic environments, interacting with dissatisfied or abusive individuals in a positive manner. o Deal with exposure to blood borne pathogens may occur.
- Exert 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Stoop, climb, stand for long periods of time and perform physical labor, physical mobility and stamina to participate in activities which may be strenuous.
