Position Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

We are seeking a reliable and responsible Camp Bus Driver to safely transport campers and staff to and from camp activities, special events, and off-site trips. The ideal candidate will have excellent driving skills, a strong focus on safety, and a positive attitude to ensure an enjoyable and safe travel experience for all passengers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safely transport campers, staff, and visitors to and from the camp and various off-site locations. Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and fueled before each trip. Monitor and ensure the safety of all passengers during transit, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the bus or vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately. Communicate clearly and effectively with camp staff, campers, and parents. Follow all camp schedules and routes, being punctual for all pick-up and drop-off times. Assist with loading and unloading luggage, supplies, or equipment as needed. Ensure all campers are properly seated and secure with seat belts during travel. Provide excellent customer service to campers and parents, offering a friendly and approachable demeanor. Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, following camp emergency protocols. Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all relevant transportation regulations and safety procedures. Assist in other camp-related duties as needed, such as helping with activities or supporting campers when not driving.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to interact with children and adults in a friendly, patient, and professional manner. Ability to follow safety guidelines, policies, and procedures. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to sit and drive for extended periods. Ability to assist campers with getting in and out of the bus safely. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Flexible and reliable, with the ability to adapt to changing schedules.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement or equivalent, depending on local requirements. Clean driving record with no history of accidents or violations. Previous experience driving large vehicles or buses preferred. Must pass a background check and health screening.
