Job Description

Bus Driver 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 9502 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28277 Charlotte Latin School is seeking a full-time bus driver to join our Facilities team. The bus driver will operate Charlotte Latin’s buses throughout the academic school year, assist in maintaining the fleet, and may cover summer program routes as necessary. This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule that will vary between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., any day of the week (Monday through Sunday), based on transportation needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for driving Charlotte Latin’s morning and afternoon bus routes to pick up and drop off students in grades TK-12. Ensure the safety of all students on the bus. Maintain bus fleet interior and exterior cleanliness. Assist with shuttling buses for the afternoon dismissals. Assist with fleet-wide fueling and keeping a record of bus fleet fuel usage. Monitor and maintain Diesel Exhaust Fluid system levels. Monitor and maintain all bus fluid levels. Perform minor bus fleet repairs and maintenance. Ensure adequate stock levels of onboard bus supplies. Maintain transportation department supply inventory. Supervisory Responsibilities None Education and Experience High school diploma or GED Three years of experience driving a bus is preferred Experience working for a school is preferred Must have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to operate a school bus Have or be willing to obtain a P&S endorsement at the School’s expense CLD medical certificate must be current and on file with the North Carolina Department of Transportation Skills Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions Ability to remain focused while driving children Ability to give clear instructions to children to maintain their safety A genuine care for children in grades TK-12 Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Adheres to the highest level of professionalism Working Conditions and Environment Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds. Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity. Frequently talk and hear. Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools, and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders. Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor heat and cold temperatures. Long or odd hours, as needed.
