Job Description

BUS DRIVER
Perry NYJob DescriptionSCOPE:

1.Reports to the Center Supervisor, accountable to the Transportation Coordinator.2.Overall responsibility for the transportation of the children and parents in center based program; operating a school bus in accordance with applicable laws.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.Valid New York State CDL with proper endorsements.2.Clear driving record.3.Physically fit to operate a school bus as determined by certified physician.4.High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

MAJOR DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Transport and supervise children, parents and other authorized persons to and from program activities in accordance with established routes and schedules.2.Preform pre-trip and post-trip inspections including but not limited to the Bus Interior Child Check Sheet to ensure No Child is left Behind on the Bus. You are then required to sign off on said list. 3.Ensure that the children are safely dismissed from the bus. 4.Maintain medical release forms and classroom lists on the bus for use in emergencies.5.Provide transportation of children, parents and other authorized persons for field trips and other Head Start approved activities. 6.Ensure that bus is properly equipped with First Aid kits, fire extinguisher, and other related apparatus.

MISCELLANEOUS

1.This is a job that makes modest physical demands (such as lifting children whose average weight is approximately 50 pounds) regularly; there may be evening work.2.Responsible for keeping the bus clean at all times, routinely checking water, gas, oil, tires, etc., and cooperating with maintenance schedule in conjunction with Transportation Coordinator. 3.Must obtain and maintain certificate in First Aid and CPR.4.Participate in training and center meetings.5.Maintain accurate records regarding the use of the bus.6.Comply with all specifications of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles regarding the Bus Driver requirements and vehicle operations. Comply with requirements regarding random drug and alcohol testing. Maintain 19A certification, attend related training and keep paperwork up to date.7.Maintain an up-to-date bus route.8.Report any accidents, mishaps, illness, or any other relevant information to the Transportation Coordinator as soon as possible or the Director in the absence of the Transportation Coordinator.9.Assist in classroom on a regular basis.10.Other duties as assigned.
