The City of Columbia is seekingenthusiastic individuals to join our team as Bus Drivers in thePublic Works Department. As a Bus Driver, you will operate andtransport passengers in buses and vans along fixed routes andschedules, providing exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate buses and vans along fixed routes and schedules,ensuring passenger safety in varying weather conditions. Provide excellent customer service and assist patrons whennecessary. Regular attendance is a necessary and essentialfunction. Perform other duties as assigned.

Provide advice to others outside direct reporting relationshipson specific problems or general policies. Consider different points of view to reach agreement, utilizingelements of persuasion for cooperation. Interactions have a significant impact on the organization interms of time, money, or public/employee relations.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. 1 year of related experience. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger endorsementand no airbrake restriction. Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of assigned routes, relevant laws and regulations,defensive driving, and accident prevention. Skill in operating fleet vehicles and equipment, effectiveverbal and written communication, active listening, andproblem-solving. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations withprofessional composure, provide high levels of effective customerservice, count money, make change, prepare and write basic reports,and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Physical Demands:
