Journeyman II – Warehouse 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Warner Robins, GA Houston County Board of Education Job Description Classified Positions Job Title Journeyman II – Distribution Center/Warehouse Job Code __468______ Department/Location Distribution Center, Perry_ FLSA Status _Non-Exempt_ Reports To Distribution Center/Warehouse Supervisor Date September 19, 2005 Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the system mission statement. This position serves in the role of delivering goods and services to schools and departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reads purchase order, picking ticket, service/work order, or requisition to determine items to be received, shipped, gathered, delivered, or repaired. Selects and counts proper items from stock, packs orders in boxes or shipping containers, and places orders on pallets. Manually and/or mechanically conveys materials and items to/from receiving or shipping areas to/from storage or to/from other designated areas. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type style, color, or product code. Manually and/or mechanically loads and unloads supplies, furniture, foodstuff, or other materials or equipment onto and off of delivery vehicles. Opens, unpacks, counts and inspects materials, equipment and other goods when received. Sorts and stores perishable and frozen goods in refrigerated rooms. Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Picks up surplus materials from schools and other locations and transports to warehouse or other location. Operates vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment to assist in moving large, heavy or bulk items. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, boxes, or other containers when shipped, stored, and/or received. Assists in the counting of material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies in stock and records totals. Identifies damaged or defective materials, equipment, or supplies. Obtains signature of receipt at delivery location for all items delivered. Assists in taking inventory by counting and recording stock items on count sheets or as directed. Checks delivery vehicles on a frequent and regular basis for proper fluid levels, lights, tire air pressure, and all other conditions conducive to proper and safe operations. Informs supervisor when vehicle servicing is needed. Maintains vehicles by washing, cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, or other means to ensure cleanliness. Drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to deliver and/ or to pick up items from district locations. Assembles, disassembles, and repairs furniture manually and/or using power tools. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition and takes responsibility in cleanliness and upkeep of warehouse facility. Completes all projects in a competent manner and ensures proper recording of time and materials. Performs other duties as assigned by Distribution Center/Warehouse Supervisor.
Qualifications:

Experience:
High School diploma. One year experience in warehouse or distribution center operations, preferred.
Certificate or License Required:
Valid driver’s license and good driving record. c)
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, detailed correspondence, and memos. Ability to write detailed correspondence and directives. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Familiarity with common terminology relating to distribution, logistics and procurement. d)
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. e)
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
