Independent Courier Driver (1099)
Location:
St. Rose/Luling/Destrehan, LA area only Are you retired, have extra time, or already driving for rideshare companies? Why not supplement your income with flexible, on-call courier work through Cool Runnings Courier Services ? We are seeking dependable, detail-oriented drivers with reliable, fuel-efficient vehicles. This is a 1099 independent contractor role —you choose when and where you drive. Position Overview Cool Runnings Courier Services partners with businesses to provide efficient, customer-focused delivery solutions. We support clients facing logistical challenges and help them adapt through reliable, responsive courier support. Driver Status Independent Contractor (1099-MISC) You operate your own business; Cool Runnings is your customer—not your employer Flexible “on-call” schedule: You are not required to accept every run, but must respond when contacted Runs may be scheduled or last-minute (day/night/weekend/holiday/time-sensitive) Driver Responsibilities Accept and complete runs safely and on time Maintain communication with dispatch during runs Use GPS, smartphone, camera, and text messaging efficiently Report delays over 30 minutes Be en route within 15 minutes of accepting a run Safety first – you are never required to speed Never make decisions on behalf of the client without dispatch approval Requirements Reliable, fuel-efficient vehicle Valid driver’s license, insurance, and U.S. citizenship Clean drug screening (up to 2 months back) Smartphone with GPS and camera capabilities Direct deposit and/or Venmo account Completion of onboarding and training paperwork Ability to read and follow all instructions carefully
Compensation Starting Driver Rate:
$0.375/mile (
Top Out Driver Rate:
$0.50/mile)
Fuel Reimbursement:
$0.05/mile Additional % bonuses may apply
Holiday Pay:
+15% (Extended to full weekends if holiday falls on a Friday or Monday) Pay is based on all miles driven, starting and ending in your area Mileage from your house to your area is not normally compensated Weekly pay schedule, with the first payment typically issued after 5 weeks (Net 30 terms).
