As needed hours, Monday-Friday (6:15am-8pm), Saturday (7:30am-5:00pm), Sunday (10:00am-2pm)

Transports patient specimens and laboratory supplies between North Oaks Health System locations and contracted outside entities and the North Oaks Medical Center Main Laboratory.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Understands importance of timely client pickups. Physically able to stand or sit for long periods and endure walking. Must have ability to communicate effectively with all persons with whom you come in contact. This individual must have a cooperative attitude and be a Team Player. Must be able to use independent judgment in making sound decisions objectively. Must have ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments. Must have adequate vision to perform the job (i.e.) Color blind test.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent education. Must have an understanding of basic math to accurately complete the records associated with processing and distribution. Basic math includes adding, subtraction, multiplication and division. Must be able to effectively communicate so as to understand both written and oral instructions from supervisors and other employees. Must have good eyesight with or without visual aids. Must possess a current and valid LA Drivers License. For insurance purposes, must be 19 years of age or older for driving North Oaks Health System’s vehicles.

Constantly Responsibilities:

1. Adhere to established laboratory and hospital quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control policies and procedures. 2. Maintain confidentiality. 3. Performs maintenance safety checks on vehicles and reports problems to supervisor. 4. Ability to perform up keep on vehicles such as cleaning of vehicles, watching the fuel levels and have routine oil changes performed. 5. Knowledge of transporting Blood and Laboratory Specimens. 6. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. 7. Attends meetings as required. 8. Follows North Oaks Health System’s compliance programs and all federal and state regulatory guidelines. 9. Ability to report to Dispatch for Courier Receipt Log, cell phone and vehicle keys. 10. Knowledge of universal and safety techniques. 11. Knowledge of outpatient order processes. 12. Knowledge of properly labeled tubes. 13. Knowledge of procedure for vehicle keys, Fuelman cards, etc. 14. Knowledge of assigned cell phone usage & accountability. 15. Knowledge of procedure to follow when experiencing vehicle problems. 16. Knowledge of what to do if not on courier pick-up schedule. 17. Follows all NOHS policies/procedures as outlined in Employee Handbook 18. Knowledge of NOHS Employee Handbook 19. Must complete “Coaching the Experienced Driver” course. 20. May assist in keying of orders and registering contract accounts.
