This position ensures the timely collection, sorting, and distribution of both internal and external mail, while also contributing to the operational goals of the Facility Services Department. The employee plays a key role in maintaining accurate records of mail handling and inventory transactions and ensures that all activities comply with organizational policies and procedures. In addition to mailroom responsibilities, the employee provides support in receiving, storing, and coordinating the delivery of materials and supplies throughout the facilities warehouse. The role is governed by the terms outlined in the employee’s current contract of employment and is expected to uphold all duties and responsibilities as specified therein. Examples of Duties Have the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word, because they will need to maintain accurate records and account for numerous details. Ability to organize work, maintain accurate records and account for numerous details. Must be a reliable, responsible, tactful, resourceful, and trustworthy person with a sincere interest and concerned attitude toward the College. Must have a cooperative disposition in working well with other people. Exhibits a high level of attention to detail, with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a team-oriented environment. Proficient in the safe and effective use of both hand and power tools. Capable of utilizing Brightly software to manage work orders and requisition materials as needed. Skilled in handling complex tasks, managing multiple priorities, and meeting established deadlines. Committed to ongoing training and professional development to enhance knowledge and performance in assigned duties. Possesses strong computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrates strong ownership and initiative by ensuring smooth, efficient, and timely operations through sound decision-making, proactive problem-solving, and continuous improvement—all with minimal supervision. Maintains a high standard of personal integrity and professionalism, including honesty and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately. Understands and supports the mission, goals, and objectives of a facility maintenance organization. Demonstrates proactivity and the ability to perform duties independently, requiring minimal supervision. Minimum Qualifications Have a high School diploma or equivalent. Have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Work Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a mailroom or related mail services environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working in a warehouse environment, demonstrating knowledge of inventory management and operational procedures. At least two (2) years of experience operating a box truck equipped with a tail lift gate to deliver and transport goods. Possess a current and valid forklift operator certification, with demonstrated ability to operate safely and efficiently. Normal Working Hours:
A minimum 40-hour workweek, as coordinated with the supervisor, to ensure the employee can effectively perform assigned duties and responsibilities, with occasional evening and weekend hours required. Summer schedules may be adjusted to accommodate four-day or four-and-a-half-day workweeks.
