THE STARTING SALARY FOR A NEW HIRE TO THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO

$37,782 to $44,805. Salary offers for the selected candidate are based on the candidate’s education and experience related to the position, as well as our agency budget and equity. This position is primarily responsible for: Receiving of deliveries to the Crime Laboratory to include signing for and documenting the quantity of items received as well as constant monitoring of the Logistics receiving/back door. Research and delivery of these items to the appropriate employee or discipline. Receiving, filling, and delivering supply requests from lab staff. Assisting with Crime Lab vehicle maintenance. Assisting with transfer of items to surplus. Receiving and disseminating incoming and outgoing mail (US and interoffice). Additionally, this position is responsible for surplus property for the entire NCSCL system. This position must also be prepared to support the duties of other employees in the Logistics Section including assisting with the management of the vehicles assigned to the NCSCL and facilitate the distribution of incoming and outgoing mail US Mail as well as interoffice correspondence in a timely manner. Extreme flexibility is required in this position to handle the hectic environment of the Logistics Section. Logistics is the hub of the NCSCL and receives many telephones calls, questions and visitors. Assistance in the control of badges, issuance and recovery of all security system vendor and visitor badges. Selected candidate will undergo and must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation which may take several months to complete.

The background investigation includes:

credit and arrest checks, interviews with associates, personal and business references, past employers and neighbors, verification of education achievement, and urinalysis drug screening.

Division/Section Information:

The primary purpose of the State Crime Laboratory is to accept, find, preserve and provide scientific forensic analysis of evidence for the criminal justice community. The forensic services provided include in-lab analyses, technical field assistance, and expert witness testimony in the following areas: Digital Evidence, Drug Chemistry, Firearm & Tool Mark, Forensic Biology,?DNA?Database, Latent Evidence, Toxicology and Trace Evidence. The Administrative Operations Section is located in Raleigh at Laboratory Headquarters on Tryon Road. The Administrative Section is responsible for business and logistical operations to include facility management activities, security for the laboratory system, purchasing, shipping and receiving equipment, inventory and property control, fleet management, mail and freight services, expendables warehouse, credit card management, telephone systems and janitorial services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Documented experience processing mail and/or deliveries. Documented experience maintaining inventory of office supplies and/or equipment. Ability to maintain motor fleet vehicles (maintain accurate vehicle mileage logs and inspection/maintenance records, and transport vehicles for repairs, normal maintenance, and inspections.) Management preferences: Valid NCDL and clean driving record. Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS) if you are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
