• These are long-term temp positions.
• The work schedule is Monday
• Friday, 8am
• 4pm and 12pm
• 8pm.
• The pay rate is $24.

Duties:

Job Summary:

• Provides the safe, timely and efficient delivery of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and equipment, documents, and/or laboratory specimens to and from various locations while completing all paperwork necessary relating to pick up and delivery.

Location assignments and items delivered vary based on each messenger’s home division and cost center. May also be responsible for occasional Patient Transport in certain Ambulatory Care Divisions.

Job Responsibilities:

Delivery Services/Patient Transport:

• Promptly and safely delivers all assigned items.
• Prioritizes work based on urgency of deliveries.
• Methods of delivery and transportation devices may vary based on assignment (ie, hand-delivery, pneumatic tube, etc.).
• Advises supervisor of issues, problems and delays in a timely fashion. If applicable, empties transport cooler bags and clears staging area at end of shift.
• Messengers in certain Ambulatory Care Sites only: Transport patients in a timely fashion via appropriate method (stretchers, wheelchairs, walking, etc.).
• Ensures accurate patient identification.

Monitors various tubes, pumps, and equipment that are with the patient. Informs staff of patient’s arrival and needs. (approximately 5% of time).

Documentation:

• Accurately completes all required electronic and/or paper logs including, where applicable, any end-of-day documentation.

Skills:

Required Skills & Experience:

• Depending on assigned division, must be able to walk long distances, lift and carry boxes, packages and/or supplies and other items; may be asked to walk to various Manhattan sites outside the main hospital.
• Verbal and written English fluency.
• Knowledge of basic internet navigation.
