To execute this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • 6 months of related experience, including the safe operation of motor vehicles.
  • Possess and maintain a valid license.
  • Maintain acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Pass required background investigation (fingerprints submitted to Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation), prior to employment
  • Pass DOT physical and drug screen, prior to employment; will be subject to random urine and breath alcohol testing throughout employment.
  • Pass Level 2 Background Check
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen. Positions in this class typically require balancing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions.

Medium Work:

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and intense noises Successfully perform scheduled manifest by picking up all clients on time and delivering them to their destinations safely and within a reasonable time frame.

  • Ensuring the safety of all passengers by use of appropriate on-board restraints.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatcher or central office personnel, via two-way radio.
  • Document thoroughly the course of the day including odometer readings, times, and passenger information.
  • Accurately collect and reconcile cash fares collected from customers.
  • Report all accidents involving buses and passengers immediately to the Police
    Department and company dispatch
  • Respond to passengers’ questions pertaining to transit routes.
  • Fuel vehicle daily
  • Perform door-to-door service
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection, and report safety issues to the maintenance area for repairs.
  • Provide short and long-distance trips
  • Utilize in-vehicle tablet to receive trip information, and updates and to validate pick-up and drop-off times
  • Be familiar with RideCo manifests and technology.
  • Load and unload passengers safely and secure wheelchairs and passengers transport using the Smith System and DDC4 defensive driving techniques.

Emergency Management Responsibilities:

During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker.
