Ambulance Driver SouthMed Ambulance Service Sumter, SC 29150 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ambulance Driver to join our emergency response team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting patients and medical personnel to and from medical facilities, ensuring timely and efficient service during critical situations. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, safety, and adherence to all traffic regulations. Duties Operate the ambulance vehicle in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. Respond promptly to non-emergency calls, ensuring the timely transport of patients to medical facilities. Assist medical personnel in loading and unloading patients, ensuring their comfort and safety during transport. Maintain the ambulance vehicle in good working condition, performing routine checks and reporting any mechanical issues. Document all trips accurately, including patient information, destination details, and any incidents that occur during transport. Collaborate with emergency responders and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care during patient transport. Ensure the cleanliness and readiness of the ambulance for immediate response. Qualifications Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with route driving is preferred. Previous experience as a delivery driver or in shuttle driving is a plus. Mechanical knowledge or experience with heavy equipment operation is advantageous. Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations. Must be physically fit to assist in lifting patients and equipment as needed.
