Job Description:
A Mover’s job involves the safe and efficient transportation of furniture and household items from one location to another, encompassing tasks like packing, loading, unloading, and potentially unpacking and assembling furniture, while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Packing and Wrapping:
Preparing items for transport by wrapping furniture and fragile items in protective materials.
Loading and Unloading:
Safely loading and unloading furniture and boxes onto and off moving trucks, using appropriate equipment like dollies and hand trucks.
Transporting:
Ensuring items are securely stowed in the moving truck and transported to their new location.
Unpacking and Assembly:
Unpacking items at the new location and potentially assembling furniture as needed.
Customer Interaction:
Communicating with clients to understand their moving preferences, address concerns, and ensure a smooth moving process.
Inventory and Organization:
Keeping track of items being moved, organizing the moving truck, and ensuring no items are lost or damaged.
Disassembling and Reassembling:
Disassembling furniture for easier transport and reassembling it at the new location.
Operating Moving Equipment:
Operating dollies, hand trucks, and other moving equipment safely and efficiently.
Following Safety Procedures:
Adhering to safety guidelines and proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
Problem-Solving:
Addressing any issues or unexpected situations that may arise during the move.
Physical Demands:
Lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
What We’re Looking For:
Must be able to work in team environment
- Must be physically capable to handle labor-intensive aspects of moving and warehousing. _ Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs.
- Must be able to lift 60 lbs. individually and at a minimum and over 100 lbs. with help
- Must be able to work in a team environment, have a great work ethic and attitude Requirements
Minimum HS diploma or GED
Candidate must be available Monday - Friday 8 a.
m. to 5 p.m. and on occasion weekends and overnight for long distance moves. AMWAT Moving performs criminal background searches.
