The Department of Professional Aviation at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, twelve-month faculty within the College of Liberal Arts. The position will begin on or before May 1, 2025. The position is to manage the scheduling of flight operations.

The Department of Professional Aviation at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, twelve-month faculty within the College of Liberal Arts. The position will begin on or before May 1, 2025. The position is to manage the scheduling of flight operations.

The scheduler position requires:
  • Preparation of schedules, maintenance records, and ensuring that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by each student in each flight course.
  • Accomplishing additional duties as assigned by the respective supervisor.
  • Prepares weekly schedules and monthly training plans.
  • Actively schedules students and instructors into aircraft as they become available. When student no-shows or calls in, scheduler will actively fill the time slots with students based on priority set down by the Chief Flight Instructor.
  • Actively, reschedules students and instructors into aircraft due to weather or un-forecasted maintenance.
  • Coordinates with contracted maintenance to ensure available aircraft are re-entered into the schedule once maintenance is completed and removes aircraft from the schedule due to maintenance.
  • Update and maintain our online flight schedule software Talon.
  • Manages Instructor efficiency and productivity and generates reports to assist Chief Flight Instructor identifying trends.
  • Performs supervisory and administration tasks as required in flight operations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year Aviation experience or experience with scheduling in a training and/or operational environment.
  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 61, 91, and 141 regulations
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Exceptional communication skills and customer service
  • Capable of following written & verbal instructions, and documented procedures
  • Must be able to multi-task with phones, emails, and customers
Degree Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in aviation or five years of aviation scheduling experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Private Pilot Certification.
  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 142 operations or military equivalent.
  • Aircraft scheduling experience at a Part 61 or 141 school or military equivalent.
  • Basic Ground Instructor and/or Advanced Ground Instructor certification.

Additionally, there are expectations that the individual filling this position will participate in departmental, college, and university committee structures where appropriate. The individual will also be required to help with academic advising of s-UAS students, assisting with planning, development, and revision of s-UAS flight and ground school curricula. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in research and scholarly work within the guidelines of the University and other duties as required by the Unit Head.
