in Sandwich, MA Shared Living Provider for developmental & cognitively disabled adults Shared Living is an arrangement available to qualified adults that is
CONTRACTED AND PAID MONTHLY
by The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and supported and managed by our organization. This stipend is a tax-free stipend for most Shared Living Providers!
MISSION OF LIFE
To empower adults with autism, learning, and intellectual disabilities in their pursuit of a happy, independent life. The Residential Division of LIFE is currently seeking a Shared Living Provider for a gentleman in his late twenties.
Overview:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable Shared Living Provider to oversee the support of an active younger man in HIS home in Sandwich, MA. We want you to join our growing team of compassionate and dependable Providers to support one of the wonderful individuals we support. The Shared Living Provider
WILL LIVE WITH THIS INDIVIDUAL
so housing is part of the contract. This is a year-round position!!! In this
IMPORTANT
role you will: Help our participants live a meaningful life by encouraging them in their interests and sharing yours with them Participating in the organizational community and the community at large to keep them engaged and to help them maintain and improve their independence Prepare paperwork for and attend doctor appointments as needed Transport participant to appointments, and activities Continuously attend to doctor’s appointments, dentist appointment, etc. Ability to manage an email account, LIFE’s Learning Management System (Relias) and other basic computer entry programs Maintain confidential files and complete documentation as required for DDS and for LIFE. Prior Direct Service work or CNA work would be great–but not required

HE WANTS MOST OF ALL IS A STABLE HOME LIFE WITH A POSITIVE AND COMFORTABLE FAMILY-FEELING ATMOSPHERE AND CONSISTENT ROUTINES.
Enjoys doing activities and making friends–that is assisted by the additional hours of support he receives Ideally this caregiver would have experience managing challenging behaviors as he does have high anxiety and redirecting to his coping mechanisms is key. Experience can be employment, volunteer work or personal. He loves watching movies, talking about movies, going for nature walks and nature photography. He just finished his first year attending Project Forward 3 times a week and plans to attend again next school year specializing in agriculture and facilities management. He can be home alone–but doesn’t like to be alone for too long as he has difficulty thinking of things to do. He is currently looking for a summer job with his real goal of working on a farm! He is very independent in some ways yet thrives on 1:1 attention—yet a calm and kind couple may be wonderful for him as well, if personalities are a match. A housemate is a possibility if they are compatible and have some interests and hobbies in common.
KEY:
He takes medications three time daily and needs assistance taking them.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
First Aid & CPR Certified (we will provide training) Valid Driver’s License w/reliable transportation (vehicle) All Shared Living Providers must meet the DDS standards of an acceptable DPPC, CORI, Fingerprinting and acceptable driving record. The right person will be calm, honest, friendly, outgoing, reliable, DEPENDABLE, flexible, and KIND.
