⚐ ⚑ ⚑ Support for Young Man P/T (Arden)  compensation: $20-$26/hour employment type: job title: Part Time Assistant for Disabled Young Man I’m looking for someone to assist with my adult son. He has developmental disabilities, uses a power wheelchair, and has his own recycling and small hauling business. He needs assistance with all of this, which means this is a very active position, both physically and mentally. He can be fun AND challenging. We have a behavior support plan in place which is very important to his success. The right person, both empathetic and self-assured, can make a tremendous difference. You must be a physically fit non smoker with a good driving record and ability to pass a background search, at least with a high school diploma. This is currently a part time job, two 8 hour days a week, potentially more in the future. The right candidate will be a: Caregiver (emphasis on the word CARE). Coach (gentle, subtle, by example guidance for good decision-making) Cheerleader (lead with positive supports) Companion (like a best friend, big brother) Communicator with a sense of gentle humor Listener (ability to convey that you are paying attention and translate what may be implied) Assistant (assist with physical transfers, preparing written or electronic communication, general facilitation) Driver (always safe, ability to drive a small pickup truck and pull a small trailer) Problem solver with respect (not telling what to do, but helping find solutions) Organizer Handyman (ability to put air in or change a tire, as an example, but liking to tinker with things is a big plus!)
