Full-Time, Salary Exempt Competitive pay rates based on experience Global K9 Protection Group LLC is looking for a dedicated and passionate Trainer to serve as an integral part of the GK9PG Team.

Primary Position Objectives:

Explosive detection and vapor wake screening of stations, trains, baggage, vehicles, and passengers using K9 teams. Narcotics detection teams used for screening of stations, trains, baggage, and vehicles. Conducting surges, on and off site – highly visible sweeps of stations and trains in conjunction with federal, state, and local partners. Planning and coordinating all dignitary protection requirements at stations and on board trains. Delivering a program of public and employee communications, and media relations regarding the safety and security of Amtrak’s passengers, employees, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Monthly TSA Training Report delivered to Command electronically in Microsoft Word format Weekly comprehensive written reports on each canine teams’ effectiveness or deficiencies and provided correction actions to address deficiencies delivered to Command electronically in Microsoft Word format Ensure document training results for all teams through the KATS websites Conduct joint inventories of hazardous materials used in explosives detection training with TSA Field Canine Coordinator and Sergeant in his/her designated area Explosive detection and vapor wake (referred to as ED and VW) Narcotics detections (ND) Remedial training to address deficiencies of the canine or handler to the level of expected certification standard (ED, VW, ND) Facilitate operational training scenarios to assist handlers in allowing their explosive detection or narcotics detection canine to work independently among the traveling public and in the operational environment (ED, VW, ND) Handlers must be taught different search patterns conducive to Amtrak’s operational environmental situations (ED, VW, ND) Evaluate a team’s level of proficiency in all applicable certification areas (EDC, VW, ND) Implementation of training process narcotics detection canine teams from inception process through advanced levels of narcotic detection training for multiple teams of varying skill levels Explosive Detection Canine Implementation of training process from explosive detection canine teams (EDC and W) from inception process through advanced levels of explosive detection training for multiple teams of varying skill levels Access onsite conditions to create realistic scenario based training for all Amtrak explosive detection teams (EDC and VW) Provide apprentice style training to Amtrak K9 Sergeants and Amtrak senior police canine officers to allow for continuous training for Amtrak police handlers and canines At least 2-5 years or more of experience in training explosive dog teams (EDC and W) or prior military experience with military explosive detection dogs in a transportation or railroad environment. Minimum of 5 years as a Trainer for person-borne/VW and/or passenger screening. Demonstrates subject matter expertise relevant to Amtrak’s needs and their ability to perform the required tasks. The vendor must provide details and references of comparable services that were performed at two law enforcement agencies or transportation agencies. Demonstrates knowledge of how to apply the principals and conditioning method in training explosive detection dog teams (EDC and V) Must have proper knowledge in working with explosive training aids and their proper use. Must demonstrate knowledge of contamination awareness. Should have a knowledge of the TSA National Explosive Detection Canine Team’s methodology, annual certification standards and Amtrak annual conventional and vapor wake certification standard. Request an average of forty hours per week training multiple explosive detection canines within designated areas of operation. Must have proper knowledge in working with narcotic training aids and their proper use. Request an average of six hours per week training multiple narcotics detection canines within designated areas of operation. Ability to get and maintain a Employee Possessor license through ATF
