PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Field Deployment Specialist ensures the safe and tactical execution and implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC) through active supervision of operating crews, Signal & Communications (S&C) Mechanical supervisors and employees. The Field Deployment Specialist is also accountable for delivering training, riding trains, troubleshooting and other duties as required.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Identify and document recurring trends and issues related to PTC – employees plugging in the wrong details into the system, speeding, not logging off PTC systems, enforced according to the proper legislations
Oversee the implementation of PTC; make sure PTC is working as intended, validation of assets in the field
Analyze, understand, and resolve issues related to interpreting variances to operating parameters
Ability to set priorities and establish a game plan for action and execute efficient time management
Willing to solicit different/new ideas and the ability to accept change
Ability to effectively communicate messages in a way that will be understood easily by all employees
Ability to form relationships within our organization as well as external organization such Federal Railway Association (FRA) and other railways
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School
Rules qualified; General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), familiar with General Operating Instructions (GOI)
Able to maintain current certifications and licenses such as Engineer Certification
Effective working knowledge of railway operations, terminal and road operations
Knowledge of systems (Nexus, TYES, CMA, Incident Manager, Quads, FTO, WREDAS, ITM, Dashboard reports)
Knowledge of and ability to conduct investigations
Read and understand safety instructions, operating rules and regulations, collective agreements
Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
