POSITION SUMMARY

The Cargo Handler II is responsible for ensuring warehouse duties assignments are finalized within the allocated period as assigned by the Ops Coordinator/Lead Cargo Handler. The Cargo Handler II is assigned duties in the Miami Warehouse from cargo acceptance, breakdown, scanning, tie-down, palletizing and other functions assigned by management, including Cooler operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned from time to time. Accurately stack products on pallets according to company standards. Operate palletizing equipment and machines safely and efficiently. Verify product quantities and quality before palletizing. Ensure the ULD used is not built to over its weight capacity rating. Maintain Serviceability of Facility Equipment (Forklift, Scales, Scanners). Assure the security and safety of personnel and freight. Maintain the cleanness of the facility and equipment. Report damages and discrepancies for claims, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes. Able to perform operation needed of Cargo Acceptance, Buildup, Tie-Down, Scanning, Breakdown, Staging, and all ways of handling freight. Inspection on all vehicles such as forklift and Golf carts for damages must be conducted daily. Complete required receiving reports and resolve uncomplicated problems to ensure cargo can be shipped. Receive and record shipment data, including weight and dimensions. Examine all documents to ensure accuracy for articles being received. Perform other related duties as assigned by Ops Coordinator or Manager.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Must be 18 years of age or older Must be able to work flexible hours A self-starter is required, must be able to work effectively with minimal to no supervision. Prior warehouse experience with Fork-lift driving knowledge is mandatory. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence. Basic understanding of English. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be comfortable learning computerized transactions using SmartKargo or other software. Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets Amerijet’s insurance standards. Able to obtain SIDA badge. Willingness to work 8-hr shift covering 24/7. Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.

Key Performance Indicators:

A target of 4 to 5 completed pallets per hour is required to maintain optimal performance.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Prior customer service and conflict resolution experience is a plus. Prior airline/freight forwarding experience is preferred. Identification of HAZMAT Materials and knowledge of proper handling (Preferably). Bilingual English and Spanish Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups’ situations to customers, client and other employees of the organization. The employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Required to work in confined spaces. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; move about the facility. Must be able to work well under pressure. Domestic/International travel is negligible, and overtime is required when necessary.
