First Mate Sights Miami Miami, FL 33131 Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated First Mate to join our team in the operation of a 150 passenger tour boat. The First Mate plays a crucial role in supporting the Captain in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. This position requires strong leadership abilities, mechanical knowledge, and the capacity to manage various tasks on board. The ideal candidate will have experience in maritime operations and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards. Responsibilities Assist the Captain in navigating and operating the vessel safely. Manage crew members and delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth operations. Conduct regular inspections of equipment and rigging to ensure proper functioning. Maintain safety protocols and emergency procedures on board. Oversee loading and unloading of passengers, ensuring compliance with regulations. Provide training and guidance to crew members as needed. Monitor weather conditions and report any changes that may affect operations. Collaborate with other crew members to maintain cleanliness and organization on the vessel. Requirements Proven experience as a First Mate or similar role in maritime operations. Strong mechanical knowledge related to vessel equipment including diesel engines and rigging systems. Ability to manage a team effectively, fostering a cooperative work environment. Familiarity with safety regulations and emergency response procedures. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work long hours in varying weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety.
