Competitive Salary + Benefits JWC Marine Operations is seeking a full-time First Mate to support the daily operation and maintenance of a private sportfishing vessel and contribute to the care of a prestigious waterfront estate in West Palm Beach, Florida. This position is ideal for an experienced mariner with strong fishing knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and a long-term commitment to private estate standards. This is a hands-on, detail- driven role offering the opportunity to grow within a high-end, private marine program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain a late-model Valhalla center console (33-64 ft)
- Conduct daily systems checks on engines, electronics, bilge, fuel, and safety gear
- Coordinate vendor repairs and services as issues arise
- Rig tackle, prepare bait, and assist guests during offshore and inshore fishing trips
- Clean and detail the vessel after every use to professional standards
- Perform oil & battery and routine maintenance checks, and maintain all onboard mechanical systems
- Maintain logbooks for maintenance, hours, and fuel usage
- Oversee dock area: lines, fenders, lifts, power cords, and bait systems
- Coordinate with vendors for dock/lift service, electrical checks, and storm prep
- Support broader estate duties as directed, including organization, transport, and light maintenance
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience as a First Mate or Deckhand on center consoles or sportfishing boats
- Strong understanding of marine systems and basic outboard maintenance
- Experienced with offshore fishing, local waters, and tackle rigging
- Valid driver’s license and ability to tow trailers and operate UTVs
- Willingness to pursue USCG Captain’s License within 12-18 months
- Discreet, loyal, and committed to long-term employment with a private estate
