Description The purpose of this classification is to coordinate delivery of meals to homebound seniors/clients, to include loading meals into vehicles, driving vehicle, delivering meals to homebound clients, collecting monies, maintaining records, and providing general support for SAIL program.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 12:30 pm for around 20 hours per week. Essential Functions Drives a motor vehicle to transport prepared lunches/meals or other items between senior center, clients’ homes, or other locations.
Follows established safety procedures and traffic laws; performs driving functions safely in various weather conditions; monitors traffic conditions surrounding vehicle to identify obstructions, pedestrians, or unsafe traffic conditions; reports any incidents, accidents, problems, or unusual situations.
Coordinates with, and assists, SAIL Site Assistant in preparing meals, loading of meals into vehicle for delivery to homebound clients.
Collects payments from clients for delivered meals and forwards revenues to the Recreation Program Manager each day.
Maintains accurate records of homebound clients; maintains records of delivery trips, mileage, vehicle maintenance, and related activities. Documents and communicates any questions or concerns from the homebound clients to the Recreation Program Manager.
Operates a motor vehicle, personal computer, general office equipment, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, which may include the use of word processing, e-mail, Internet, or other computer applications.
Coordinates necessary maintenance of motor vehicle; conducts inspections of vehicles to verify safety and proper operations or to identify potential problems; reports faulty equipment or operational problems; maintains vehicle service records.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic arithmetic operations.
Skill in operating, maneuvering and/or controlling the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Ability to calculate and/or tabulate data. Includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations.
Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:

 High school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by five (5) months previous experience and/or training involving vehicle operation and public interaction; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Licenses or Certifications:

 Valid State of Alabama driver’s license. Additional Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 The work requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force. Work requires the ability to exert very moderate physical, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 Work is performed in an outdoor environment. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, fumes, traffic hazards, or bright/dim light. Employer
