pdf?sfvrsn=e041e1cb_1){target=”_blank”}The SAIL Center (formerly known as the Meals-On-Wheels program) follows the Alabama Elderly Nutrition Program guidelines set forth by the Area Agency on Aging. An incumbent in this position will be responsible for assembling, packaging, and delivering meals to senior and homebound individuals, in addition to other duties as assigned in support of the Senior Activities for Independent Living (SAIL) program.

This position requires a valid Driver License from state of residence and a clean driving/criminal record, as well as the willingness to work indoors or outdoors, with the elderly, and to perform various tasks required by the SAIL Center Director.

Hours for this position will be approximately 8:00am to 1:00pm Monday through Friday.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Assists SAIL Center Director (Center Manager) with food handling and packaging for home delivery
  • Delivers meals to eligible homebound clients within the 2-hour limit
  • Cleans delivery containers and ice chests daily
  • Maintains and cleans delivery vehicle
  • Maintains daily delivery records and submit to the Center Director weekly
  • Collects voluntary meal donations from clients
  • Assists Center Director with SAIL Center activitiesMinimum Qualification Requirements
  • Requires a minimum of one year work experience which demonstrates the ability to handle and package food in a safe manner and within established rules and regulations, preferably within a senior nutrition program
  • Requires a valid driver license, clean driving record and insurability
  • Requires graduation from high school or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be drug and alcohol free
  • Must be dependable and enthusiastic
  • Must have good work ethic, be responsible and courteous, and possess good communication skills
  • Must exhibit a welcoming and pleasant attitude conducive to working with the public and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.
