Job Description This part-time Driver is responsible for operating the County van and/or bus, wheelchair lift, as well as the two-way radio for purposes of providing transportation for clients to and from designated locations on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will provide transportation for demand responses of clients, to include, driving clients to medical appointments, going to drug store, post office, etc. and for special trips such as going to the mall, and field trips to and from senior centers. The driver will also be responsible for aiding with clients entering and leaving van/bus and escorts as needed. Essential Duties Driving a designated county vehicle to support senior programs Driving seniors to field trips and other places within the community Delivering meals to homes as needed as part of home delivered meals programs Preparing and maintaining accurate records, as required Collecting, recording, and posting contributions by clients for transportation and turning them into the supervisor Grade The grade for this position is 97. The salary will be dependent on education and experience. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. One year of experience operating multi-passenger vehicles Valid driver’s license Preferred Qualifications CPR certified (after employment) Defensive driving training (after employment) A Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake qualification is preferred and must be obtained prior to operating those vehicles requiring the operator to license as such Public Speaking Making announcements to groups of seniors Communicating with and assisting clients, including the physically and mentally disabled Other Job Requirements/Information This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing. This job requires fingerprinting. Knowledge of the county roads and streets The ability to follow oral and written instructions Knowledge of Senior Services programs and services, major county and medical facilities and related agencies.
