JOB SUMMARY

To serve our customers by safely and efficientlytransporting product from the warehouse by driving a tractortrailer to various customers and properly delivering and unloadingproduct according to customer invoices and company standards. 10Paid Holidays! Well Maintained Equipment – all automatics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Unloadsproduct from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart down ramps,stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions and places indesignated customer storage areas according to customerspecifications and company standards (e.g., handling productaccording to preferred work methods, scanning product as it isdelivered into the store). Ensures all paperwork is completedaccording to established company and governmental guidelines (e.g.,DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehiclemaintenance reports and pre- and post-trip reports are completedaccurately and submitted on a timely basis, ensures all invoicesare accurate and turned in daily and all damages and shortages arereported promptly). Ensures all food safety protocols are metaccording to established guidelines (e.g., proper temperatures aremaintained in the delivery vehicle, product is inspected forvisible damages prior to delivery, product is delivered and storedto prevent cross contamination) and maintains sanitary conditionsin tractor and trailer; assists with maintaining sanitaryconditions in the warehouse and yard. Develops and establishes goodrelationships with customers by providing excellent and courteousservice with clear communication. Other duties as assigned byManagement.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High schooldiploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractor trailerdriving experience preferred. Completion of a tractor trailerdriving school will be accepted instead of, or in addition to ahigh school diploma. Ability to read and speak the English languagesufficiently to converse with the general public, to understandhighway traffic signs and signals in the English language, torespond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports andrecords.

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Valid ClassA Commercial Driver’s License. Must be insurable to operate avehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

DOT regulations;Hazmat guidelines; Safe lifting and delivery practices.

Skill in:

driving over long distances, over a variety of terrains and invarying weather conditions, communicating with customers; solvingproblems; delivering product.

Ability to:

drive a tractor-trailerunit both in the day and at night, remain alert and aware ofsurroundings; meet or exceed minimum productivity levelsestablished by the Company; handle hazardous materials and food andrestaurant items that are frozen, dry and refrigerated; operate a 3axle tractor, 45′ – 48′ trailer, straight truck, on board computer,key pad and a 2 wheel hand cart; read, write and communicate inEnglish as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations;perform basic math functions (e.g. add, subtract, multiply,divide); effectively plan and organize work activities independentof direct supervision; solve problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Thephysical demands described here are representative of those thatmust be met by an associate to successfully perform the essentialfunctions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, theassociate is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Theassociate is frequently required to lift, push, or move productthat weighs up to 50 pounds by hand and push/pull up to 350 poundsof product with a 2-wheeled hand cart down a ramp and into thecustomer’s storage areas; climb in and out of a tractor andtrailer; reach to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart; bend andtwist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving itemsfrom trailer. Specific vision abilities required by this jobinclude close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheralvision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORKENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described hereare representative of those an associate encounter while performingthe essential functions of the job. While performing the duties ofthis job, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet, hot,extreme cold and/or humid conditions; and moving mechanical partsand may be required to work in confined spaces. The associateusually works an overnight schedule, including weekends, holidays,overtime, on-call and starting at various times are required tosuccessfully meet customers’ needs. The associate is occasionallyexposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Overtime hours, working weekends and holidays, and starting atvarious start times are required to successfully meet customers’needs.
