Medical Equipment Technician Medical EquipmentTechnicians are responsible for ensuring safe delivery, providingsetup, and education in usage of home medical equipment for ourcustomers. Setup is done in their home, long-term care setting,clinic or any location deemed necessary to service patients.
JobDuties:
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HMEproducts and services offered by the company and all
- applicablegovernmental regulations.
- Comply with all applicable companypolicies and procedures.
- Educate customers in proper use and careof respiratory and HME equipment in a home setting.
- Completerequired documentation following equipment setup, delivery orpickups as required.
- Assist with customer equipment problemsunder emergency conditions.
- Process all orders in a timely,accurate manner.
- Promote services and products to referralsources in the community as appropriate.
- Develop basicreimbursement knowledge and completely document all informationnecessary to ensure
- reimbursement for all appropriate equipment,products, and services.
- Assist with implementation of qualityimprovement program to meet company policies.
- Maintain homeoxygen systems through regularly scheduled visits to customers.
- Safely drive and maintain company vehicle.
- Perform patientassessment and re-assessment for patient care.
- Perform routinepreventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment asrequired in accordance with
- company policies.
- Report equipmenthazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance withcompany policies and
- procedures.
- Develop and maintain workingknowledge of current HME products and services offered by thecompany.
- Assume on-call responsibilities during non-businesshours in accordance with company policy.
- Retain knowledge of andconsistently adhere to procedures for the use of PersonalProtective Equipment (PPE),
- infection control and hazardousmaterials handling.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and functionwithin the guidelines of HIPAA.
- Completes assigned compliancetraining and other educational programs as required.
- Maintainscompliant with AdaptHealth’s Compliance Program
- Responsible forcleaning equipment when assigned by supervisor or down time allows,following the Branch
- Maintenance and Cleaning Guidelines
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum JobQualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Entry levelsales, customer service background essential
- One (1) year ofMilitary, delivery driver with sales component or health caretechnician experience would be
- considered related experience andpreferred.
- Senior level requires two (2) years of work-relatedexperience and one (1) year of exact job experience.
- Valid andunrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence
PhysicalDemands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to regularly liftand/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to100 pounds.
- Must be able to stretch, bend, stoop and crouch andperform moderate to heavy physical labor while moving equipment andsupplies.
- Subject to long periods of sitting and driving.
- Workenvironment may be stressful at times, as overall work activitiesand work levels fluctuate.
- May be exposed to unsanitaryconditions in some home settings.
- May be exposed to hazardousmaterials, loud noise, extreme heat/cold, direct, or indirectcontact with airborne, bloodborne, and/or other potentiallyinfectious pathogen.
- May be exposed to high crime areas withinthe service community.
- Must be able to drive independently andtravel as needed.
- May be exposed to angry or irate customers.
- Must be able to access the patient’s residence without assistance
- Mental alertness to perform the essential functions of position
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written withcustomers with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion,courtesy, and respect for privacy.
