Boat Captain (Seasonal) 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars 600 Huron Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401 Position Summary The Captain ensures the safety of the crew, vessel, and equipment while navigating designated advertising routes. Responsibilities include assisting with event content equipment setup, managing photoshoots with the account management and photography teams, and adapting to last-minute operational changes based on media or client needs. Punctuality, adherence to the daily plan, and preparedness for emergency procedures are essential. Maintenance duties involve completing and assisting with basic machinery and general maintenance, logging activities in the MaintainX app, managing boat machinery casualties, performing screen, engine, and general boat checks, troubleshooting basic mechanical issues, maintaining cleanliness, and performing hull preservation during yard or dockside periods. The Captain collaborates with the crew on tasks such as light-offs, securing, navigating, and ensuring vessel safety, ensuring balanced workloads. When not operating the vessels, the Captain must remain on standby, ready to respond to emergencies and act as a lookout. The vessel operates on a seasonal basis from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with the possibility of an additional operational month before and/or after the standard season, depending on demand and weather conditions. During this period, Captain is compensated hourly for all duties performed. Operational Responsibilities Follow the guidelines outlined in section 1.02 of

(PRINT) 1. Maintain safety of the crew, vessel, and all equipment on board 2. Navigate the vessel true to course in a safe manner while completing daily designated advertising routes with precision 3. Assist with events content equipment setup management and events staff during scheduled times 4. Work alongside account management and photography team for photoshoots 5. Comply last minute operational changes based on media or client needs 6. Report to shifts on time and adhere to plan of the day 7. Be aware, willing, and able to execute emergency management Maintenance Responsibilities 8. Complete and assist of basic machinery and general maintenance dockside and underway 9. Accurate and timely logging of maintenance activity in MaintainX app 10. Boat machinery casualty management and coordination while underway 11. Screen, engine, and general boat checks while underway 12. Troubleshoot basic screen and mechanical issues 13. Maintain cleanliness in all spaces 14. Perform hull preservation on designated days of yard/ dockside periods
Knowledge and Skills:
- Possess general knowledge of both diesel and gas propulsion and electricity generation systems, and support systems such as fuel, pumps, and hydraulics.
- Have a working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and execute machinery basic repairs as needed.
- Basic understanding of electronics.
- Extensive knowledge of shipboard and shoreside operations within the marine industry.
- Must have a thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance maritime laws and regulations.
- Professional demeanor with all colleagues both corporate and Captain, and the occasional passenger.
- Strong organizational skills with strategic vision and problem solving skills.
- Strong leadership skills, combined with excellent communication skills.
Qualifications:
- 50-100GT OUPV License required
- 2-5 years of Captain experience in the maritime industry with a proven track record of demonstrated successful results
- Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle
- Possess or able to obtain a TWIC card
Physical Demands:

The environment includes a variety of vessels and spaces to include engine rooms and cabins. A high noise level is possible when entering machinery spaces. Personal protective equipment will be provided as needed in these situations. This position may travel domestically. Occasionally must get into awkward positions to reach cramped work spaces. Sometimes must work in very bright or very dim lighting conditions. Are occasionally exposed to hazardous equipment.
