A transport driver’s required skills include: Ability to read and write the English language. Ability to read and follow written directions. Ability to read and follow a map. Must have the skills and emotional stability to handle a transport on interstate roadways as well as heavy city traffic on a daily basis. Physical stamina must be sufficient to do the daily task of hooking and unhooking a trailer, unloading transports, reloading when necessary, and other physical duties that may be assigned to the driver. Must be able to report to work as scheduled on any day – Midnight to 6 am, up to 14 hours per day. Must be able to stay overnight on the road for 2.5 nights. Home most weekends. Minor computer skills required to enter information into truck OBCs, as well as computer skills required to access the driver’s assignments. Ability to complete all DOT required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Must be neat and dressed in uniform daily. Transport Drivers are subject to the Hours of Service Regulations of the United States Department of Transportation. The position is paid hourly. The ideal candidate is honest, dependable, punctual reporting to work and with deliveries, able to work with minimum supervision while on the road and has a personality that allows him/her to be a good representative employee and able to work with other drivers and customers. Requirements A candidate must possess the following job requirements: At least 21 years old Valid Class A CDL Safe driving record with no more than two preventable collisions or moving violations in the past three years Reliable transportation to work Must pass a DOT Physical, Drug and Alcohol Screening, and a Road Skill Test •
