Student Transportation Driver Job Summary:

The Student Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, field trips, and other approved activities. This role requires a professional and courteous demeanor, adherence to all traffic laws and safety regulations, and a commitment to ensuring the well-being of student passengers.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate a school bus, van, or other designated vehicle in accordance with state and local laws. Pick up and drop off students at designated locations in a timely manner. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure operational safety. Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior. Monitor student behavior and enforce safety rules during transport. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school officials, and transportation staff. Follow assigned routes and schedules while making adjustments as necessary for traffic or weather conditions. Report any vehicle maintenance issues, delays, or incidents to the appropriate supervisor. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding transportation safety and student conduct.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license with V endorsement or school bus endorsements Clean driving record with no major violations. Previous experience in transportation, preferably working with children. Ability to pass background checks, drug screenings, and required medical exams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and handle emergencies or unexpected situations effectively. Knowledge of local roads, traffic laws, and school district policies.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a vehicle safely. Ability to assist students with special needs in boarding and exiting the vehicle as required. Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels and tire pressure.

Work Schedule:

Part-time or full-time positions available, typically following school schedules. Early morning and afternoon shifts, with possible mid-day or evening hours for field trips or extracurricular activities.
