POSITION SUMMARY
The Commercial Helper I rides on the vehicleand assists a Driver in providing prompt, courteous and completewaste removal services for customers who reside on a designatedresidential route. The Commercial Helper I is responsible forsafely loading waste, as well as carrying bags and containers tothe vehicle for disposal. The position assists the Driver inmaneuvering his or her vehicle by directing the Driver from theground. In addition, the Helper helps to maintain the cleanlinessof the vehicle, as well as the on the route and in the workarea.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicingcustomers on a designated route. Operate packing mechanism and various levers and handles toactivate the lifting and loading mechanism Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on eachdisposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, ifapplicable. Perform complete pre
- and post-operation inspection of thevehicle in accordance with Company policy; report any safety issueson standard reports.
Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and otherson a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in atimely and professional manner. Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptablewaste. Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherenceto all applicable safety standards and policies. Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for thedepartment to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely andefficient manner. Follow all required safety policies and procedures. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customerexpectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperativemanner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense ofhonesty and trustworthiness.
