Transit Driver for Young Adults with Disabilities! 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars 304 Druid Hills Road, Temple Terrace, FL 33617 Job Summary We are seeking a responsible Van Driver to transport adults with disabilities to and from an adult day program. The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient , punctual, safe, and have a heart for serving our lovely population of individuals with disabilities. We need someone to be able to work a split shift , meaning, working from 6:30am-9:00am, then 2:00pm-4:30pm. Times may change based on the amount of clients needing transportation that day. Because of our population’s need for consistency and dependability, we need someone willing to stay long-term and develop a relationship with our clients. Additional opportunities to drive during the day may be offered if employee chooses to accept additional responsibilities, but is not required of the job.

Main Responsibilities :

Transport adults with disabilities to and from an adult day program according to a schedule based on that day’s route. Ensure the safety of all passengers by adhering to traffic laws and company safety guidelines. Be able to drive a 15 passenger van for a few hours at a time, depending on the day’s route. Plan out the day’s route based on traffic patterns, which clients are requiring transportation that day, and the program’s schedule. Maintain excellent communication with passengers, their families, and program staff about pick-up and drop-off times. Complete daily attendance logs, weekly billing, and any additional reports as required, including maintenance and incident reports. Qualifications Proven experience as a van driver or in a similar transport role is preferred. Be as self sufficient as possible. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred, but not required. Ability to use technology to assist the job (ie Apple maps, text messaging, route planners) Strong knowledge of local routes and traffic patterns. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail (ie can plan a route based on each individual client’s schedule and time constraints). Valid driver’s license with a clean and safe driving record. Ability to pass background checks as required by company policy. Maintain a clean driving record and abide by all traffic laws at all times, both on and off the clock.
