What You’ll Do:
As a Plant Truck Driver, you are responsible for safely transporting materials, parts, finished products, and tankers within the manufacturing plant or facility. This role requires operating various types of trucks, such as flatbeds, box trucks, trailers, and tankers to move goods between production areas, warehouses, loading docks, tank farms, and other on-site locations. The driver must follow safety guidelines, maintain the trucks in good working condition, and ensure efficient movement of goods to support manufacturing operations. The position also requires collaboration with other plant personnel to ensure demands of production are met.
Responsibilities:
Operate plant trucks, including flatbeds, box trucks, tankers, and trailers, to transport raw materials, parts, and finished goods within the facility. Safely load and unload materials from trucks or tankers, ensuring loads are properly secured and balanced; and tankers are properly stored, loaded, and unloaded. Ensure the truck is in good working condition, performing basic maintenance checks and reporting any mechanical issues to the maintenance team. Transport goods between various departments, including production, storage, shipping, and bulk to ensure smooth workflow. Assist with the organization and movement of materials and finished products within the plant to support production schedules. Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups, including inventory counts and material documentation. Communicate effectively with team members to prioritize transportation tasks and meet deadlines. Follow safety protocols, including proper loading techniques, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe driving practices. Monitor and maintain cleanliness and safety of the truck and the loading/unloading areas. Assist and cross train in other jobs as needed. Regular attendance required. Perform any other duties assigned. Active participation of the plant safety program is required.
What We’re Looking For:
High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver’s license is required. Must have acceptable MVR. Experience operating commercial or yard truck required. Previous experience operating plant trucks, flatbeds, box trucks, tankers, or similar vehicles in a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting. Ability to safely load and unload materials using proper techniques. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly. Frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching as part of trailer inspections and load securing. Ability to sit for long periods (up to 10-12 hours per shift) while operating the vehicle. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating controls, using hand tools, and managing shipping documents. Good vision and hearing (corrective devices permitted) for safe vehicle operation and responding to auditory signals and instructions. Ability to climb into and out of truck cab and trailer beds multiple times per day. Capable of working in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, or rain, when loading/unloading or performing inspections. Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment if required (with appropriate certification). Why Florida’s Natural?
