Job Summary:
The Sally J. Pimentel Deaf & Hard of Hearing Center is seeking a responsible and reliable part-time Driver to provide safe, scheduled transportation for Deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind clients. This role involves managing a driving schedule, maintaining the agency’s vehicles, and assisting with occasional errands and light maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely transport clients to and from the center, bus stops, schools, or special events using our 5- and 7-passenger vans. Track and manage pick-up/drop-off times, locations, and client rosters. Perform and document basic vehicle maintenance checks; schedule service as needed (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations). Keep the van clean (inside and out) on a weekly basis or as needed. Pick up snacks and materials from local partner sites as requested. Report any vehicle issues or scheduling changes to the Executive Director. Provide assistance with light facility or parking lot maintenance when not driving.
Requirements:
Must be at least 25 years old (insurance requirement). Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and clean driving record. Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Must pass a Level II background check, including fingerprinting and DCF/DJJ clearance. Advanced ASL sign language skills and knowledge of Deaf culture preferred, but not required.
