Sanitation Equipment Operator (Driver) City of St. Petersburg – 3.8 Saint Petersburg, FL Job Details Full-time $23.71 – $33.30 an hour 16 hours ago Qualifications iRecruitment Mid-level High school diploma or GED Supervising experience Full Job Description This is lead supervisory and participatory work in the operation of motorized sanitation equipment, as well as providing a broad range of important sanitation services. Work involves operation of rear loader solid waste collection trucks, tractor-trailers, backhoes and pay loaders; operation of specialized automotive type cleaning equipment; the coordination of minor maintenance and routine servicing activities to include checking and adding oil, filling the fuel tank, and checking tire inflation and fluid levels; some manual work using small tools and equipment such as rakes and shovels to complete specific cleaning assignments; manual lifting of household discards such as furniture and appliances; and operating spraying equipment to address odorous and unsanitary conditions. This position will occasionally be scheduled to work holiday, weekend, and evening shifts.

Applicants must:
Possess and continue to maintain a valid State of Florida Class “A” Commercial Driver License. Have some experience in the operation and routine servicing of sanitation collection equipment. Be able to maintain routine written records and reports of activities. Be able to work holiday, weekend, and evening shifts on occasion. Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster Desirable Qualifications.
Preferred applicants:
Preferred applicants possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency. Have considerable knowledge of a wide variety of sanitation support activities. Have some knowledge of traffic laws and regulations. Are skilled in the safe operation of sanitation vehicles and equipment. Have some experience supervising a small work crew. Selection Process
