JOB FUNCTIONS

Loads and unloads garbage and trash. Operates basic hand tools and equipment Assists in the maintenance of recreational and municipal areas. Operates chainsaws and other equipment. May operate pick-up truck. May act as relief driver on garbage truck. Loads and unloads materials/supplies. Other duties as assigned.

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to perform safely all phases of the job. Ability to keep simple records. Ability to maintain harmonious relationship with the public and co-workers. Skilled in the routine care and use of tools and equipment. Ability to perform heavy manual work. Ability to withstand working outdoors under variable weather conditions and risks. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

HOURS OF WORK, SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ACCOUNTABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Hours as assigned. No Superviso1•y responsibility except when action as a sanitation driver. Work is routine and is periodically spot checked by supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

An employee in this job under general supervision performs a variety of duties, which may include collecting garbage and trash and the performance of laboring duties in the light maintenance and repair areas. Assignments are outlined and work is routine. Work is spot-checked for successful completion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell, hear and drive. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 60 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Sufficient ability to read and write.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS, CERTIFICATES, ETC.

Current and valid State of Florida Operator’s license for equipment operated. Must obtain a State of FL CDL Class B license within 6 months of employment.
