Description The Collection Equipment Operator operates commercial sanitation equipment such as a front loader truck, side loader truck, knuckleboom truck, roll-off truck, and related equipment in order to provide prompt service to all residential and commercial customers of the City’s Sanitation Division. Examples of Duties Collects solid waste from various locations and delivers to disposal facility; Inputs route information into an electronic data recording device; Reviews data for complete and accurate information; Performs minor maintenance on collection containers; Cross trains in order to learn how to use different equipment; Participates in scheduling work and sanitation routes as necessary; Performs equipment inspection and performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment; Checks oil levels, greases joints, and checks fluid levels; cleans vehicles and equipment; Cleans, washes, and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles; Completes required documentation on daily activities/routes and forwards to supervision/clerical staff as required; Inspects waste for flammable and hazardous substances and notifies supervisor if found; Receives customer complaints and requests and relays to supervision; Assists with training of other collection equipment operators as needed. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; Two (2) years of experience in a related field; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and Valid State of Georgia Class “B” CDL Driver’s License.
