Description Job Summary:
The CDL Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation for residents, visitors, and staff within the senior living community. This role involves driving various vehicles, including pickup trucks, cargo vans, limousines, 15-passenger and 24+ passenger bus. Duties include transporting residents to appointments, social events, and outings, as well as assisting with the loading and unloading of mobility aides. The driver ensures timely arrivals, maintains the cleanliness and safety of the fleet vehicles, and provides excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Transport residents, staff, and visitors to and from appointments, outings, and community events in a safe and timely manner using various vehicles, including pickup trucks, cargo vans, 15-passenger and 24+ passenger bus, and limousines.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition, conducting routine checks, fueling, and reporting any maintenance issues.
- Help residents safely board and exit vehicles, assist with luggage, mobility aids, and personal items, ensuring a comfortable and secure experience.
- Plan and follow efficient routes, adjusting for traffic and weather conditions to ensure punctual arrivals.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents during travel. Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed for transportation and safety.
- Provide courteous, friendly, and professional service to residents, families, and visitors, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the trip.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies related to transportation and vehicle operation.
- Handle emergency situations, such as medical or vehicle-related issues, in a calm, efficient manner, ensuring the safety of passengers.
- Communicate effectively with management, staff members, family members, and residents to coordinate transportation schedules and address special needs or requests.
Qualifications Education and experience required:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements, required.
- 5+ years of experience driving a bus; senior living or healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience driving a variety of vehicles, including pickup trucks, cargo vans, buses (15-passenger and/or 24+ passenger), and limousines a plus
- Currently certified or willing to obtain CPR/AED certification.
Schedule:
PRN or as needed
Pay:
$20-$22 an hour
