Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill acritical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our deliverydrivers not only make sure the customers’ products arrive at theirdestination at the arranged times and in good condition, but theyare the face of our company

The Driver Trainee is an entry level driver trainingrole. Associates in this role will learn and/or gain experience inhauling freight and operating tractor trailers while assistingdesignated driver trainers with their deliveries and routes.
Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workersprofessionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in atimely manner. Functions as a team member within the department andorganization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to bestserve the company. Responsibilities may include, but not limitedto:
- Successfully completes Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock toDriver Training Program as required.
- Rides-with and assistsdriver trainer in executing deliveries as required.
- Performs allrequired safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspectionsof tractor/truck and trailer according to Department ofTransportation (DOT) regulations; inspect tractor/truck and trailerto insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriateaction as needed.
- Report all safety issues and/or repairsrequired.
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe drivingguidelines and policies.
- Immediately reports all safety hazards.
Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
- Performs count check of items and check customer invoices ofproducts that have been loaded. Checks and complete in an accurateand in legible fashion all required paperwork associated withfreight.
- Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloadedtrailer as needed.
- Drives to and delivers customer ordersaccording to predetermined route delivery schedule.
- Unloadsproducts from the trailer, transport items into designated customerstorage areas.
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans,and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to companypolicy.
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtainproper signatures.
- Collects money (cash or checks) whererequired.
- Loads customer returns on to trailer and secure trailerdoors.
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and bring tothe driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
- Unloads allequipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log inaccordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock areaand keep trailers clear and clean as required.
- Performs otherrelated duties as assigned.

Internal Candidates:
1 year of service in goodstanding as outlined in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dockto Driver Training Program, able to attain CDL Permit and DOTHealth Card
- 0-12 months CDL A Commercial Driving experience
- High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
- Valid CDL A
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (whereapplicable)
- Must be 21 years of age
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report(MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminalbackground check
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT Health Cardand/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift andutilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to moveand/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weightthroughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, dependingon the location Company description Performance Foodservice, PFG’sbroadline distributor, maintains a unique relationship with avariety of local customers, including independent restaurants andhotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries.
