Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and safety-focused Swing Driver to join our waste management operations. The Swing Driver is a highly versatile and skilled operator who is fully qualified to drive and operate vehicles for all three primary lines of business: Commercial Front Load, Rear Load, and Roll-Off . This position plays a critical role in covering routes as needed due to absences, vacations, or increased service demands. As a unionized position under Teamsters Local 25 , this role adheres to the collective bargaining agreement governing wages, benefits, seniority, and working conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate front load, rear load, and roll-off trucks to collect waste and/or recycling materials from commercial and industrial customers. Serve as a relief driver, filling in on routes across multiple lines of business as assigned by dispatch or supervisors. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. Interact professionally with customers and represent the company with a high level of customer service. Follow all safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe driving practices, and adherence to route protocols. Maintain accurate logs and route documentation as required by company policy and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Assist in training or mentoring new drivers as needed. Report any route or equipment issues to dispatch or maintenance promptly. Comply with all union rules and participate in scheduled union meetings or training sessions.

Qualifications:

Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the waste industry or related field operating commercial collection vehicles. Proficiency in operating all three truck types : Front Load, Rear Load, and Roll-Off. Ability to read and understand a route sheet, complete daily paperwork, and maintain route records. Strong safety record and understanding of DOT and OSHA regulations. Must be flexible and adaptable with route assignments and work schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays if required. Must be a current member of or willing to join Teamsters Local 25 .

Working Conditions:

Physically demanding role with exposure to outdoor elements, odors, and waste materials. Frequent lifting, climbing, bending, and walking. Operation of heavy-duty trucks in urban, suburban, and rural environments.

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive hourly wage per Teamsters Local 25 CBA . Overtime as applicable under union rules. Full benefits package including health, dental, vision, pension, and paid time off per union agreement.
