Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Driver Trainer to join our team at America West Transportation. The Driver Trainer will be responsible for delivering high-quality training to both new and existing drivers. This position requires a combination of hands-on coaching, classroom instruction, and on-the-road training to ensure our drivers provide exceptional customer service, maintain the highest safety standards, and comply with all transportation regulations. Key Tasks and Responsibilities The Driver Trainer is responsible for delivering comprehensive training to new drivers, focusing on safe driving practices, customer service, vehicle inspections, and handling passengers, especially those with mobility challenges. This includes both in-class and on-the-road instruction, along with performance assessments and constructive feedback. For current drivers, the Trainer conducts refresher courses to reinforce safety, customer service, and policy updates, while monitoring on-road adherence to company standards. They ensure compliance with local traffic laws, ADA regulations, and safety protocols, and emphasize professional, courteous interactions with passengers. The Trainer also maintains accurate training records, provides progress reports, and collaborates with management to continuously improve training materials and processes for ongoing driver development. Education & Training High school graduate or GED equivalent is preferred but not required. Valid state driver’s license or commercial driver’s license. Experience driving as a Transport Driver transporting clients for at least 1 year. NEMT or Medical field is preferred. Valid CPR/First Aid card is preferred but not required. Knowledge and Experience Experience driving corporate clients and paratransit vehicles are a plus. Must have a driver’s license for at least five (5) years with no more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) at fault accident in the last three (3) years. Applicants must be familiar with using cellular phones and navigating around areas using a GPS. Experience working with the elderly population Physical certifications: Pass DOT “fitness for duty” exam; HEP B Series and contractual vaccinations Acceptable background screens, which includes, but is not limited to criminal check and drug & alcohol screening Valid Authorization to work in the U.S. Core Competencies Self-motivated and responsible Good communication skills Positive attitude Willing to go the extra mile Working Conditions Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
