Job Description

SUMMARY:

Operates some heavy equipment such as: knuckle-boom truck, backhoe, sweeper, end loader and dump trucks at a skilled level. Utilizes skills to assist in the debris removal for the City Of Tupelo.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following:

  • Operate the knuckle-boom truck at a skilled level to remove citizen generated or storm related debris.
  • Operate a backhoe or end loader to remove debris
  • Operate machinery (listed above) at a skilled level to load debris trucks safely for transport and disposal.
  • Must use extreme caution while working in the vicinity of overhead utility lines and overhanging tree branches
  • Loads and transports pipe and other equipment in the bed of the knuckle-boom truck
  • Operate a chain saw safely in a variety of situations such as storms and storm related weather
  • Be able to follow written and oral instructions to follow the daily routing plan
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Supervises up to one (1) worker.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma, or

GED. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to the general public/citizens.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply basic logic or reason in routine and non-routine functions of operation, maintenance and construction. 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION

Valid commercial driver’s license (Class B) from the State of Mississippi.
