JOBSUMMARY

To serve our customers by safely and efficientlytransporting product from the warehouse by driving a tractortrailer to various customers and properly delivering and unloadingproduct according to customer invoices and company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Unloads product from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart downramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions and places indesignated customer storage areas according to customerspecifications and company standards (e.g., handling productaccording to preferred work methods, scanning product as it isdelivered into the store).
  • Ensures all paperwork is completedaccording to established company and governmental guidelines (e.g.,DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehiclemaintenance reports and pre
  • and post-trip reports are completedaccurately and submitted on a timely basis, ensures all invoicesare accurate and turned in daily and all damages and shortages arereported promptly).
  • Ensures all food safety protocols are metaccording to established guidelines (e.g., proper temperatures aremaintained in the delivery vehicle, product is inspected forvisible damages prior to delivery, product is delivered and storedto prevent cross contamination) and maintains sanitary conditionsin tractor and trailer; assists with maintaining sanitaryconditions in the warehouse and yard.
  • Develops and establishesgood relationships with customers by providing excellent andcourteous service with clear communication.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractortrailer driving experience preferred.

Completion of a tractortrailer driving school will be accepted instead of, or in additionto a high school diploma.

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICALREQUIREMENTS
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.

Must beinsurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial andcontinued employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledgeof:

DOT regulations; Hazmat guidelines; Safe lifting and deliverypractices.

Skill in:

driving over long distances, over a variety ofterrains and in varying weather conditions, communicating withcustomers; solving problems; delivering product.

Ability to:

drivea tractor-trailer unit both in the day and at night in a variety oftraffic and weather conditions and remain alert and aware ofsurroundings; meet or exceed minimum productivity levelsestablished by the Company; handle hazardous materials and food andrestaurant items that are frozen, dry and refrigerated; operate a 3axle tractor, 45′

  • 48′ trailer, straight truck, on board computer,key pad and a 2 wheel hand cart; ability to read and speak theEnglish language sufficiently to converse with the general public,to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the Englishlanguage, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries onreports and records ; perform basic math functions (e.

g. add,subtract, multiply, divide); effectively plan and organize workactivities independent of direct supervision; solve problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an associate tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Whileperforming the duties of this job, the associate is regularlyrequired to sit, talk, and hear.

The associate is frequentlyrequired to lift, push, or move product that weighs up to 50 poundsby hand and push/pull up to 350 pounds of product with a 2-wheeledhand cart down a ramp and into the customer’s storage areas; climbin and out of a tractor and trailer; reach to stack and unstackpallets and hand cart; bend and twist while loading and unloadingproduct, and retrieving items from trailer. Specific visionabilities required by this job include close vision, distancevision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception andability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate isoccasionally exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humidconditions; and moving mechanical parts and may be required to workin confined spaces.

The associate usually works an overnightschedule, including weekends, holidays, overtime, on-call andstarting at various times are required to successfully meetcustomers’ needs. The associate is occasionally exposed to high,precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level inthe work environment is usually moderate. Overtime hours, workingweekends and holidays, and starting at various start times arerequired to successfully meet customers’ needs.
