Dump Truck Operator Foreman The Dump Truck Foreman is responsible for the complete supervision and leadership of dump truck drivers and company equipment. The foreman must maintain a professional standard at all times and is responsible for safety, vehicle condition, staffing, communication, and operational efficiency. Friendships with drivers are prohibited — immediate termination will occur if professional boundaries are crossed. The foreman is fully accountable for protecting company assets, completing thorough documentation, solving problems proactively, and upholding a professional, solutions-first attitude.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
Direct and supervise daily activities of dump truck drivers. Lead daily pre-shift meetings to set clear expectations for assignments, safety, and performance. Enforce professionalism, attendance, and performance standards consistently. Actively correct poor performance or unsafe behaviors immediately. Maintain complete professionalism — no fraternization or favoritism.
Safety Management:
Safety is non-negotiable. Personally verify that all pre-trip and post-trip inspections are completed daily. Conduct regular truck yard and job site safety audits. Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times by all drivers. Investigate and report all safety incidents immediately to management. Maintain a culture of “zero shortcuts” regarding safety.
Operational Management:
Manage dispatching, routing, and efficient truck utilization daily. Confirm trucks are legally loaded, tarped, and all load documentation is properly completed. Ensure that all trucks remain at the yard unless approved for other assignments. Keep trucks fully staffed — actively recruit, onboard, and retain drivers in coordination with management.
