Facilities Cleaning Responsibilities (90%) Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies. Sweeps, vacuums, mops floors; sweeps sidewalks. Cleans windows; dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures. Empty trash cans regularly; collects trash from grounds and cleans trash cans. Facilities Maintenance Responsibilities (10%) Monitors and repairs/replaces light bulbs, florescent tubes, spot lights, exit lights and other lighting malfunctions. Assists in unloading and carrying of donations and other Salvation Army materials. Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc. Assists in setting up meeting rooms; sets up tables and chairs; puts ice in glasses and sets out drinks. Opens/closes building as scheduled; raises and lowers all flags daily; displays special signs as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Materials and Equipment General Cleaning Supplies, Equipment and Tools Hand Tools Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices, general building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures including proper safety precautions. Ability to perform routine cleaning duties, minor repairs, and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds. Ability to use and maintain cleaning and maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner. Ability to follow instructions and work independently Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform the needed janitorial and maintenance work. Education and Experience High school diploma or G.E.D. and Six months experience performing general janitorial and general maintenance duties; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Duties are performed standing and requires squatting, climbing, bending and walking. Any of the preceding duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting. Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) frequently. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to dirt, dust, disagreeable sights and/or odors, and various temperatures.
