PH – Switcher FT-1 Position Available In Broome, New York

Job Description:

Responsible for the movement of trailers to and from the unload/ load doors and throughout the yard. May also be responsible forthe physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages by hand,including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing, in asafe and efficient manner. Essential Function

• Performs trailerswitches defined as hooking and moving a parked trailer from theyard to a load/unload door or hooking and moving a trailer from adoor to the yard.
• Communicates with management and/or centralcontrol to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
• Documentstrailer moves using the Yard Management System (where available) orswitcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections onswitcher equipment.
• Understands and demonstrates effective yardswitching safety processes and procedures. In addition to the aboveessential functions, Switchers may also be required to performPackage Handler essential functions as follows:
• Utilizes”hand-to-surface” methods for all package handling.
• Loads andunloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyorsystem carts and load gratings.
• Lifts, carries, pushes and pullspackages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximateshifts of two to four hours.
• Determines the appropriate conveyorsystem by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifyingnumbers and memorizing information and sorts packages accordingly.
• Peforms other duties as assigned Minimum Education
• None requiredMinimum Experience
• No experience required; six (6) months ofexperience as a package handler or switching/CDL operatorexperience preferred. Knowledge Skills and Abilities
• Must have avalid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation(DOT) file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructionregarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discernnumbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheelrollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloadingdevices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; abilityto work well in a fast-paced team environment. Job Conditions

Pay Transparency:

This compensation range isprovided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salaryrange for this role across all potential locations. If thisopportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonableestimate of the current. Starting salary for the lowest level tothe current starting salary of the highest level. Actual startingpay would be determined by experience relative to the job, marketlevel, pay at the location for this job and other job-relatedfactors. Permitted by law. An employee may be eligible foradditional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offerseligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement,and tuition reimbursement.

Pay:

$21.00 – $22.00 per hour.
