Truck Driver 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Waterloo, NY 13165 Waterloo, New York agricultural and light industrial equipment business headquartered in Vermont seeking a Truck Driver responsible for transporting and delivering equipment to and from our customers in a safe and reliable manner. Duties include, but are not limited to, loading and unloading trucks, securing cargo, operating, and delivering equipment and managing their time efficiently. Our Truck Drivers represent the whole company and our brand in prominent and significant settings. Dealership hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00 am to noon on most Saturdays. Tasks Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Use basic mechanical knowledge to diagnose issues and problem solve to load and fit on truck or trailer bed. Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers. Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes. Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons to transport and deliver equipment. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required. Interact with customers in a professional manner. Demo equipment with customers, as needed. Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal guidelines. Effectively use maps and GPS. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions. Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers. Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs. Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage. Read bills of lading to determine assignment details and unload trucks. Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting, or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks. Operate forklift to assist in loading and unloading equipment.
