POSITION OVERVIEW
Through education and driving skillsdevelopment, become proficient in the operation of a tractortrailer combination, picking up and delivering trailers betweenservice centers and/or turn-point locations. Responsibilities mayinclude non-driving duties such as forklift operation and workingthe dock.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operate tractor-trailer combination,including doubles and/or straight trucks Perform pre-trip,post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipmentHook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/ortrailer Maintain accurate daily logs Verify and complete requireddocumentation and reports Communicate with and follow Dispatchinstructions regarding events including, but not limited to,delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc., as required Comply withhazardous material regulations and company procedures, and confirmplacarding matches hazmat shipments, as required Demonstrateinternal and external customer service Where operationallynecessary, perform job duties of a city driver or freight handlerWhere operationally necessary, perform freight handling usingappropriate motorized and manual equipment, including, but notlimited to, forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck Chain vehicletires, as required Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, aswell as company policies/procedures Perform other duties asrequired

QUALIFICATIONS
Mustpossess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a commerciallearning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification Mustpossess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiringstandards Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT)regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal MotorCarrier (FMC) regulations Ability to count and perform basic math,with or without a calculator Basic written and verbal communicationskills Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers thatrequire an average lift force of approximately 100 pounds, severaltimes a day Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend,twist, squat, climb in and out of truck Ability to followinstructions and complete required training Ability to workindependently and/or as a team member
WORKING CONDITIONS
Drivelong distances day and night on all types of roads in all types ofweather Exposure to noise and vibration Exposure to dust and dieselfumes Exposure to hazardous materials shipped and packaged underDOT regulations Hours may vary due to operational need Overnightstays may be required for some schedules
