Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees. Define staging areas. Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required. Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper. Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned. Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment. Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard. Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area. Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury. Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies. This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred. Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred. Work Authorization/Security Clearance Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
